Astoria Homes Sponsors 2002
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s
‘Walk to Cure Diabetes’
(Las Vegas) – Employees
of Astoria Homes will put on their walking
shoes again for a cure for diabetes.
The Las Vegas homebuilder is sponsoring
a team for the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation’s annual “Walk
to Cure Diabetes” on Sept. 28 at
the UNLV campus.
Active in the efforts
to cure juvenile diabetes, Astoria Homes
participates each year in the annual
event, which raises funds for diabetes
research. The nationwide event is held
in more than 200 locations throughout
the year and expects participation from
nearly 5,000 businesses internationally.
Astoria Homes has been
a corporate sponsor and an active participant
of the walk for the last three years.
In 2000, Astoria raised more than $7,000,
which earned the team a Silver Level
Achievement Award. Last year, the company
surpassed its goal of $10,000 for the
JDRF.
“As in every year,
we are looking forward to participating
in this event and raising funds for the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,” said
Geoff Gorman, vice president of sales
for Astoria Homes. “The JDRF is
such a worthy cause, and we are honored
to play even a small role in the efforts
to cure diabetes.”
The JDRF is the world’s
foremost non-profit and nongovernmental
organization funding diabetes research.
Last year, the annual walk earned almost
$70 million to fund research for curing
and preventing diabetes. For more information,
